NEW PLEASURELAND United Kingdom
Park News - (3/31/08) According to UKRides.info New Pleasureland has now opened Storm as well as the traveling Fabbri Mad Mouse. (3/21/08) New Pleasureland in Southport is open once again for another season and the Pinfari looper that was put up late last season will reopen soon as ‘Storm’. I’ve been told that it looks like another steel coaster, possibly a wild mouse, is now under construction as well. Beyond 2008 however, it looks like the park has no future as the local council has chosen “Urban Splash” as their preferred developer to take over the site and no one knows what plans they have just yet. (12/14/07) After what was thought to be a decent first season, the New Pleasureland attraction may not be there for long. While they are still working on plans to expand the site, they are not “being shortlisted to develop a permanent attraction”. There are currently four other groups looking to move in to develop permanent year-round attractions on the site, though none were listed by name. (9/21/07) The coaster at New Pleasureland is planning to open by September 22nd, though apparently they still don’t have a new name for it yet. You can see photos of it posted to NorthWestCoastalResorts.com. (9/4/07) RideMad has posted new construction photos showing off the nearly completed Gauntlet at New Pleasureland. I’ve been told it’s being build on the old Traumatizer site and has been repainted in the old Traumatizer colors of red track and dark blue supports. (8/2/07) A Screamscape reader confirmed seeing the pieces of the Gauntlet, the Pinfari Looping Star removed from Camelot sitting on a trailer on site at New Pleasureland. (7/30/07) The latest buzz from guests to the New Pleasureland park is that rides are still being added to the park. A reader tells us they saw one ride still packed up on it’s trailer (but couldn’t tell what it was) and they had just set up a Sky Rider. There is a rumor going around that the park may try to add The Gauntlet, a Pinfari Looping Star removed from Camelot last year to make room for Knightmare, but so far we have no timetable for such a project. Apparently New Pleasureland has been seeing some great crowds however and ideas are already in development for what they can add in 2008. (7/24/07) A collection of carnival style portable attractions has been set up on the former site of Pleasureland Southport and is being advertised as New Pleasureland. You can find photos of it posted to UKRides.info.
