Park News - (6/16/09) Today we’ve got a Trip Report from the Theme Park Review trip in progress which stopped into Sommerland Syd and Legoland Billund.

2012 - Polar Land / Polar X-plorer - (10/14/11) NewsParcs reports that Legoland Billund has announced Polar Land, a brand new area coming to the park that will feature the unique 20 meter tall Polar X-plorer roller coaster. This new coaster is said to be the first to combine a 5-meter vertical drop track section mixed with an encounter with live penguins.According to the concept artwork, this drop track will be themed to look like you are breaking through the ice. In addition to the penguin display area for non-riders, there will be a restaurant and see the conversion of the existing Power Builder (Kuka Robocoaster) into a new flight simulator attraction.

icon_STOPPark News - (1/13/12) Lo-Q has announced the signing of a three year deal to bring the virtual queue system to Legoland Germany. Click here to read more.

2012_LegolandGermany_FlyingNinjago2012 - Flying Ninjago & Ninjago Miniland - (12/30/11) Legoland Germany has confirmed that the new Flying Ninjago (allowing you to soar 22 meters in the air) will open on March 30th, 2012.
(12/22/11) Legoland Germany has changed the teaser image on their website, now promoting the new ride as being called the Flying Ninjago, as well as mentioning a Ninjago Miniland section is on the way. The new image shows off a theme Sky Fly pod, with green dragon wings.
(12/15/11) According to the latest word from Screamscape sources, the Ninjago ride planned for Legoland Germany may actually be the full Gerstlauer Sky Fly ride, inversions and all
as the park is hoping to lure in and retain some of the older child and teen visitors.
(12/13/11) Legoland Germany has confirmed the addition of a new ride called Ninjago, set to open on March 30th, 2012. While the official website doesn’t give any details about the ride itself, I’ve heard that the ride system may be a more family friendly (non-inverting, more enclosed) version of their new Sky Fly ride. The final details will be released just before Christmas.

2015 - New Park - In Development - (11/22/11) Merlin Entertainment sent out a press release announcing that Nagoya was selected as their preferred location for Legoland Japan, noting that they will begin formal talks with the city to secure the site and development terms. The park could open as early as 2015.
(10/31/11) JapanTimes reports that Merlin Entertainment has chosen a 10 hectares (24 acre) site on the Kinjo Pier in Nagoya as the site for a Legoland theme park in Japan. This seems a bit small of a site for a full scale Legoland theme park however as even the new park in Malaysia that will open in 2012 will be 76-acres, and I believe the California park is 150 acres. At the same time, 24 acres is a bit too big for a Legoland Discovery Center...

icon_STOPLate 2012 - New Park - (12/12/11) According to this article, Legoland Malaysia is currently about 40% complete, and will consist of seven themed lands when it opens: The Beginning, Lego City, Miniland, Land of Adventure, Imagination, Lego Kingdom and Lego Technic.
Iconic attractions as seen as other Legoland parks that will be added here include the Boat and Driving Schools, the Rescue Academy, The Dragon coaster, Royal Joust, Kid Power Towers and the Aquazone Wave Racers as well as the Lost Kingdom Adventure dark ride which was previously confirmed elsewhere. Another attraction by the name of Dino Island was also mentioned by name, though I believe that’s a bit of a mini-themed area in the California park and not an individual attraction.
(12/8/11) We get our first peek at Legoland Malaysia this week, as this article shows off the park’s Lego Technic Test Track coaster under construction.
(9/8/11) Sally has confirmed that they have built Lego figures and scenes to be used in the Lost Kingdom Adventure interactive dark ride that will be in Legoland Malaysia when it opens in 2012.
(4/29/11) A few new details about the proposed Legoland Malaysia theme park have been posted to the LA Times. The park will be located “just across a waterway from Singapore” and will feature 40 rides, shows and attractions divided into six lands: Adventure, Imagination, Castle, Town, Xtreme, and Miniland. This park will also feature a Lego themed hotel and shopping area.
(8/31/10) According to this article, Legoland Malaysia held a competition to hire their first batch of Lego Model Builders who will construct the park’s many lego structures and monuments. The six chosen were then put into a 10 week training programs at Legoland California and Legoland Billund before being put to work on the new park.
(12/4/09) According to this news report the new Legoland park under construction in Iskandar, Malaysia will be ready a year early, opening sometime in 2012.
(12/16/08) Merlin Entertainment has confirmed that the deal was signed to build Legoland Malaysia in Iskandar. The $210 million project is expected to open in 2013, follwing Legoland Dubailand that is on track to open in 2011.

Park News - (6/29/11) Looks like I was a bit late to the party on the Lego House story… as apparently the whole story played out two years ago, resulting in the Lego house being demolished in the end as seen here.
(6/28/11) Seems a local group built a full scale house entirely out of Legos. Unfortunately, some kind of agreement they had with Legoland Windsor to move it to the park has fallen through as being too expensive to pull off. Check out pictures of the house, inside and out, here.
(3/22/11) I’m told that the former Dino Dipper (Mack Old Train) ride will be relocated and renamed Knights’ Quest for the 2011 season to the Knight’s Kingdom area of the park. Read more about it here.
(9/10/10) It seems someone has unleashed a plaque of sorts on Legoland Windsor, in the form of thousands of unwanted Wasps that are upsetting the guests and staff to no end.

2012 – Legoland Hotel - (10/3/11) According to Theme Park Tourist, Legoland Windsor has started to take bookings for their new Legoland Hotel, opening in March 2012. The hotel will apparently feature three different style themed rooms: Pirates, Adventures and Kingdoms.
(9/26/11) A construction update for the Legoland Windsor hotel can be found at RollerCoasterXtreme.
(7/26/11) Construction coverage of the Legoland Windsor Hotel can be found over at Go-Merlin this week.
(2/21/11) ThemeParksUK has posted some drawing of the new proposed Legoland Windsor hotel, due to open on 2012 on the site of the former Jungle Coaster.
(4/21/10) The official proposal for the new Legoland Hotel at the Windsor park confirms that they are proposing to locate the new hotel on the site of the former Jungle Coaster.
(3/26/09) The park has announced plans to build an  official 180 room Legoland Hotel in 2012, subject to obtaining planning permission to do so.

icon_STOP2012 - Star Wars Miniland - (12/19/11) Legoland Windsor will build a new Star Wars Miniland area for 2012… though this one will be constructed in an indoor location. There will be seven scenes created in total… one from each of the six feature films and one from the animated Clone Wars series. It’s thought that the attraction will be built in the former Rocket Racers building.
(10/14/11) According to this report, the Rocket Racers attraction at Legoland Windsor is said to have closed for good. According to the rumor mill, a new unknown attraction will replace it in 2012 however. Anyone know more?
