Park News - (4/9/08) While I do enjoy seeing and hearing about the various UK parks, chatting with the various local readers and I would love to take the opportunity to visit them someday in the future, I’m just constantly amazed as how much power any given park’s local whiney neighbors have over them. Now the well published troubles Alton Towers has with their neighbors has been ongoing for decades so that’s nothing new, but apparently the locals around Legoland Windsor have bitched enough about the park’s Jungle Coaster, an expanded Mack Mouse, that the park has been forced to make extreme modifications the coaster’s cars.
In what is probably the strangest thing I’ve seen outside the enclosed Shoot The Chute boats they have in Japan, they have managed to remove most of the cool Lego themeing from the Jungle Coaster cars and enclose them. So instead of looking like Lego themed off-road rally cars they now look like cheap looking golf carts. As an added problem the extra weight on the cars has forced the park to limit the four passenger cars to only hold two adults, cutting the capacity of the ride in half.
The Crazy thing is that the Jungle Coaster has been up and running since 2004, so it took four years for the “noise” of the ride to become a problem. Words just don’t do it justice… you’ve got to see the pictures for yourself. Just scroll down past the pictures of the new mini-golf course.
(2/13/08) Lo-Q has announced a two year deal with Legoland Windsor to install their Qbot based virtual queue system.

2008 - Longboat Invader - (11/1/07) Looks like the Longboat Invader will be saves as a new 2008 attraction.
(8/20/07) Our reader who sent the photos from the opening of Viking River Splash also sent in photos of the site for the Longboat Invader that is still missing in action. From the description I believe this may be a Viking themed Zamperla Rockin’ Tug style ride, but apparently it either wont open until the very end of the 2007 season or they’ll save it for 2008. They have the concrete pad already poured and the queue mostly in place, so it wouldn’t take much to install the ride.
