icon_STOPPark News - (6/16/09) Today we’ve got a Trip Report from the Theme Park Review trip in progress which stopped into Sommerland Syd and Legoland Billund.
(4/30/07) A 21 year old female employee at Legoland Billund was struck and killed by one of the park’s roller coasters on Sunday after she jumped over a fence to retrieve a wallet lost by a rider.

2009 - Bob The Builder 4D - Confirmed - (11/17/08) Merlin Entertainment has announced that they have signed an deal with HIT Entertainment to be the exclusive worldwide home to the first ever Bob The Builder 4D film which will be added to Legoland California and Legoland Windsor in March 2009, Legoland Germany and Legoland Billund in April 2009. The 4D film’s title will be “Bob The Builder and the Roller Coaster” where in appropriate fashion, they build a new roller coaster that everyone gets to take a ride on by the end of the movie. The exclusive deal with Hit Entertainment for the 10 minute film is for one year.

2009 - Atlantis by SeaLife - Confirmed - (3/7/09) According to the teaser posted to the Legoland Germany website the park is planning on adding “Atlantis by SeaLife” attraction, which is probably a copy of the Atlantis aquarium added to the Billund park a couple of years ago. I’ve embedded a commercial for the Billund version below.

icon_STOPPark News - (6/19/09) A post over at UK Rides talks about a new planning application submitted by the park for future development. The plan calls for the removal of the Jungle Coaster which will instead be replaced by a new 150 room Legoland Hotel. They also have a short list of other future attractions they want to add: Atlantis by SEALIFE in the Creation Center building, a new children’s coaster next to the Dragon coaster, and new kiddie rides in Land of the Pharohs and Knights Kingdom, a new family coaster to replace the outgoing Jungle Coaster, monorail expansion, and something called the Jungle Cruise. You can see some of the items and artwork submitted here.
(4/8/09) Take a peek at the new Laser Raiders dark ride at Legoland Windsor as well as all of the park’s other major rides. Unfortunately, the odd situation on the Jungle Coaster has not gotten any better, as they are still running those ugly enclosed cars.
(3/26/09) According to a press release from Legoland Windsor the park will invest £30 million on at least 11 new attractions over the next 5-10 years. In addition to new family and children’s rides, this will also include a new Sea Life Aquarium, a new family roller coaster (see below) and an official Legoland Hotel (see below).
(2/19/09) The Legoland Windsor website confirms on the bottom of this page that the Rocket Racers will be brought back due to popular demand. From what I’ve been told this interactive attraction closed down at the end of the 2004 season and hasn’t opened since then.
(8/19/08) To deal with the long lines on the Jungle Coaster, Legoland Windsor started using a Save A Seat ticket tracking system for the ride where all guests wanting to ride the coaster must now get a ticket good for a specific time-slot during holidays and weekends.
(7/25/08) A local reader went to Legoland Windsor on Wednesday and reported that the Jungle Coaster is open again, though they have signs posted now to let everyone know that “due to technical problems Jungle Coaster will be running on a reduced number of trains.” This is on top of the reduced capacity they now have (2 adults maximum) on each train as well, so with only 4 cars running at a time you can get a good idea at just how long the line was going to be.

icon_STOP2009 - Kingdom of the Pharaohs, Laser Raiders, Scarab Bouncers - (7/2/09) A quick video has been posted by Sally Corp. showing off The Tut Tones, a musical group of skeletal figures that are featured in the new Laser Raiders ride.

(3/25/09) Several new photos of the park’s major new dark ride, Laser Raiders, have been sent in by Sally Rides today. They also tell us that the ride has a hidden, secret, high-scoring bonus target hidden inside that almost gua

rentees a win for any rider who hits it.
The 7,000 sq. ft. (650 sq.m.) black light, ten-scene ride, featuring the popular Lego characters Johnny Thunder, Miss Pippin Reed and archeologist Dr.Kilroy, pits guests against the wiles of evil Sir Sam Sinister as they rescue Miss Pippin Reed from his grasp and strive to stop him from stealing the treasure of the ancient temple. Only by hitting the targets scattered throughout the ride can you win this battle.
Ten custom Lego-style Jeep ride cars, equipped with ‘laser blasters’ and scoring consoles, carry riders through a spider’s lair (where Pippin Reed is trapped in a web), past a performing skeleton band, into the professor’s lab, into the midst of exploding dynamite and the path of a moving, spiked wall—among other hair-raising events. The final scene has a storyline twist and a big, dramatic ending.
While the ride is very similar to the Sally-built Lost Kingdom Adventure at Legoland California, which has been a visitor favorite since its opening last year, one big difference is that secret bonus target:
Ray Dominey, Sally Corporation’s vice-president of technical services, installed the secret bonus target as an exciting added surprise for guests. “When a guest hits the special bonus target, an additional 7,007 points will show up on their score…when you see the final number, seven, on the console, you know you hit it: every other target score ends in zero.
“There are ninety targets in the ride,” Dominey says, “and there’s no way to tell which is the special one—until you hit it.” He does offer a hint: “The score is assigned to a red target…but then (he smiles), remember that if you hit a green target, it could turn red.”
(12/1/08) According to ThemeParks-UK the two Zamperla Jumping Stars going into Legoland Windsor will be named Scarab Bouncers instead of Beatle Bouncers.
(11/4/08) According to ThemeParks-UK the new Egyptian themed area will be called Kingdom of the Pharaohs and the dark ride will renamed as Laser Raiders instead of keeping the Lost Kingdom Adventures name from the California park.
(6/30/08) According to a post over at UKRides Legoland Windsor has put out a planning application to build a new Egyptian themed area that will include a new kiddie coaster, two Zamperla Jumping Star rides (Beatle Bounce) as well as a new building that contain the area’s main attraction which sounds like a copy of the Lost Kingdom Adventures dark ride where guests are armed with laser guns to shoot at targets. The dark ride will apparently use the park’s existing Circus Tent as the queue and pre-show area for the dark ride.

2011 – Family Coaster – Confirmed – (3/26/09) The park confirmed in the press release about their long range future plans that they are planning on building a new family roler coaster for the 2011 season.

2012 – Legoland Hotel – Planning – (3/26/09) The park has announced plans to build an official 180 room Legoland Hotel in 2012, subject to obtaining planning permission to do so.
