Park News - (1/13/12) Lo-Q has announced the signing of a three year deal to bring the virtual queue system to Legoland Germany. Click here to read more.
2013 - Tempel X-Pedition / Legends of Chima 4D Movie Xperience - (4/19/13) Legoland Germany opened an interactive dark ride called Tempel X-Pedition that is essentially the same ride that we’ve seen added to most of the other Legoland theme parks under slightly different names. (Lost Kingdom Adventure in the American parks, shorted to Lost Kingdom in Malaysia, called Laser Raiders in the UK and called The Temple in Denmark. A video promotion for the new ride can be found below. The park will also add the same Chima 4D film that the rest of the parks are also getting in 2013 and will open the new Knight’s Castle area at the Legoland Holiday Village, a medieval kingdom themed hotel. Some pictures and a video from the opening of the new Tempel X-Pedition ride (with on ride footage) can be found over at CoasterFriends. It is interesting to note that what started out as a single dark ride car on a track ride in California has now evolved into a high capacity Omnimover style ride system for the newer parks.

2016 - New Park - In Development - (10/31/12) According to a Japanese news site, Merlin officials signed a deal to open their first Legoland theme park in Japan in March 2016 in Nagoya. (11/22/11) Merlin Entertainment sent out a press release announcing that Nagoya was selected as their preferred location for Legoland Japan, noting that they will begin formal talks with the city to secure the site and development terms. The park could open as early as 2015. (10/31/11) JapanTimes reports that Merlin Entertainment has chosen a 10 hectares (24 acre) site on the Kinjo Pier in Nagoya as the site for a Legoland theme park in Japan. This seems a bit small of a site for a full scale Legoland theme park however as even the new park in Malaysia that will open in 2012 will be 76-acres, and I believe the California park is 150 acres. At the same time, 24 acres is a bit too big for a Legoland Discovery Center...

Park News - (4/17/13) A trip report from Legoland Malaysia has been posted to ThemeParkReview this week. Check it out. (2/8/13) The local news reports that Legoland Malaysia is attempting to build the world’s longest “Lego snake” to celebrate the Chinese New Year. Made from one million bricks, the plan it to stretch it from the park’s entrance over to Miniland and build it over a 10 day period with the help of the park guests.
Fall 2012 - NOW OPEN - (11/1/12) According to this report Legoland Malaysia has been a success so far, bringing in over 250,000 guests through the park’s front gate since it opened on Sept. 15th, 45 days ago. They are happy to report being on target to their goal of attracting 1 million guests into the park during the park’s first year. (10/1/12) The Theme Park Guy hits up the new Legoland Malaysia park this week. Check it out! (9/17/12) Legoland Malaysia openen their gates on Sept. 15th and had a huge crowd descend upon the new theme park. Some of the pictures posted to the park’s official Facebook page really tell the whole story… as the park looks to have been a sure fire hit. I came across a nice video showcasing the park from opening day on YouTube, so check it out! I’m sure many more will be added soon.

Park News - (9/19/12) Details about this year’s Halloween event at Legoland Windsor can be found at ThemeParksUK. (5/29/12) ThemeParkTourist shows us a new addition to MiniLand at Legoland Windsor where a new Queen figure has been installed in front of Miniland’s Buckingham Palace who will oversee it during the Diamond Jubilee celebration, marking the 60th year of Queen Elizabeth II’s run of the monarch. The new 10cm figure features a 1.5cm silver lego crown that has been encrusted with real diamonds. An actual live security guard will stand watch over Miniland during operating hours, and the Queen will be stored indoors at night.
2013 - Legends of Chima 4D Movie Xperience - (1/11/13) A press release found on the Legoland Winsor website confirms that the park will open a new “Legends of Chima 4D Movie Xperience” attraction on March 15, 2013 in the Imagination Theater.
2013 - Duplo Land Wet Expansion - (5/13/13) ThemeUK has posted a new update showing off the progress on Duplo Valley, the new wet play area coming to Legoland and set to open on the 18th. They also report that the Fairy Tale Brook ride also looks to have new scenes or models added and is expected to reopen on the same day. (3/4/13) ThemeParks-UK tells us that the new Duplo Valley at Legoland Windsor will open on May 18th, 2013. A few park attractions are getting new names this year: Chopper Squadron is now Duplo Valley Airport and Extreme Team Challenge is now Raft River Racers. (11/12/12) New details about the Duplo Land expansion at Legoland Windsor have been posted at Themeparks-UK. The new section will be named Duplo Valley and feature three new attractions: Brickville, Duplo Splash Safari and Duplo Drench Towers. From the sound of things, this whole area will be a large wet play area. Meanwhile several existing attractions will be renamed as well, such as the Duplo Train will become the Brickville Express. The existing Waterworks, Playtown and Mole-in-One mini golf course will be removed. (8/27/12) ThemeParks-UK has confirmed plans for Legoland Windsor to build an expansion onto their Duplo Land for the 2013 season. New attractions to be included are a Rain Fortress, Duplo Ville and Splash Zoo… so in other works, this will be a Duplo themed mini-waterpark play area as I have to think that the cooler UK weather would work against the idea of building an entire Lego waterpark section like what was done in California and Florida.
